As Summer Ends..

Have you ever seen the stars so clearly that you thought you could reach out and touch them?

A few years back, in the Adirondack Mountains, I remember looking up in complete awe of their lucidity overhead. It was by far the most vast and dense sky of stars I had ever seen.

And now, as summer ends, we have been making a point to spend time around a fire, looking up at the brilliance of the universe. But as the sky grows noisier with satellites and murkier with light pollution, it is hard to ignore that the clarity of the stars is becoming lost.

Similarly, with the current rate of screen time, and the sheer volume of hyper fast and desensitizing media exposure our brains are getting noisier too. And if we aren't careful, as a collective, we will begin to lose our own sense of clarity. If the nervous system becomes overactive, the neurons of the brain become distressed and cannot produce strong, clear signals - their communications get lost in the noise we have let into our mind and body.

And when this happens our senses become disorganized, our movement becomes rigid, minds overwhelmed and tension builds. We become more susceptible to the world's chaos, time moves faster around and inside of us, and we become jaded to the magic of our human experience. We lose touch with our true nature.

But, because the brain is a living tissue, and is perpetually open to change and regeneration, we each have the antidote inside ourselves. We have the power and ability to reclaim our calm and clear awareness.
